500 people showed up for our launch event on Friday. For those who have not driven down H Street NE recently, here are some photos of the “What would you build here?” sign we put across the entire two-story facade. One of our missions is to drive the connection between the real and the virtual, so we put up the sign in real life and on the 1351 H Street webpage.
We had tremendous turn-out from local operators and neighborhood folks. Thanks to H Street leaders for coming out: Linda O’Brien from Tommy Wells’ office, Anwar Saleem from H Street Main Street, Frank Hankins from SOVA, Drew Ronneberg of ANC 6A02, Julia Christian from Champs, Elise Bernard of Frozen Tropics, and many others.
Of course, Doug and James from RedRocks, Lucas from DURKL, and Eric and Lori from Maple were there representing… not to mention all sorts of other city leaders, such as Julian Hunt from DuPont Underground, Philippa Hughes from The Pink Line Project, David Fogel from 88DC, Alex Goldstein from The Fridge.
The gutted out space at 1351 H St. looks incredible. We want everyone to be able to see it to get a better idea for what would work there. The event was such a success we are considering holding another for members of Popularise. What do you think?
